Why You Need an Investment Advisor

Why You Need an Investment Advisor

For the best investment plan, you need the best support. Investment advisors have the education and experience to help you invest wisely and achieve your goals.  Here are some of the reasons to work with an investment advisor:

1. Fees and Taxes

A good investment advisor helps you minimize your fees and taxes on your investments. The advisor watches your portfolio—so you don’t have to—and advises you of the consequences of buying or selling certain investments. When clients have a complex tax profile, minimizing your taxes is important and very difficult to do without professional help. A good advisor works with you and your accountant to optimize your wealth.

2. Access

An investment advisor has access to investments that you, alone, do not. And in most cases, the advisor knows much more about the investments that they recommend than you might. This leads us to the third reason, information.

3. Information

The advisor also has access to information and research that you do not. They are often able to see how different markets are doing in real-time and have access to the historical performance of different investments and public companies. Advisors

should have research available on companies and market sectors that you are interested in, saving you time and money so you don’t have to subscribe yourself.

4. Strategy

An investment advisor can help you plan a strategy and tailor a portfolio for your specific financial situation, needs, and goals. This is why it is so much better to have a professional investment advisor than trying to plan alone. Designations are a good sign you have an experienced and knowledgeable advisor, such as Certified  Financial Planner® or Chartered Investment Advisor (CIM®).

If you need surgery, you go to see a surgeon. If you need representation in a legal matter, you hire a lawyer. Similarly, when you are investing money for long-term goals, you are much better off having an experienced professional investment advisor to guide you along the way instead of trying to do it yourself. This is especially true for individuals with complex tax profiles. Don’t spend your time and energy trying to pick investments yourself, find a qualified, experienced advisor to help you.
